365 Seconds

Recently I watched a video of a man beginning at his 30th birthday, he took a year off. He traveled and did a lot of things that he had always wanted to do. Everyday of that year he took a one second video of something he had done that day. The video is six minutes and five seconds long and is filled with travel, laughter, peace, sadness, beautiful landscapes, and friends and family. Now that his year is over I wonder how his life has changed. I wonder what his next 365 second video will look like. More importantly, this made me wonder what my own video would look like.My wife, Juliane, and I came to China in 2009 teaching English in a university. Our goal was to meet people and build new friendships. I really feel that the majority of my one second videos would consist of me meeting new people. Some of the people we met were Jonathan & Danielle Jenkins. My first impression of Jon was that he was a ball of energy focused on ideas about how to make the world a better place. Danielle was much quieter than Jon, but no less talented. One of the first things I remember about her was how great her photography was. Most importantly, our friendship grew because of our common love to have a lifestyle directed towards serving others. Living in America after two years of living abroad left me missing my new found ‘home’. So, when the opportunity arose to be a part of the OrderWithMe Crew, my wife and I were both excited. So even if all my one second videos look like me sitting at a desk everyday for the next year, I’m thankful to be back in China and a part of this team.

柠檬草の味道 (“A Taste of Lemongrass”)

First let me introduce myself. My name is Shirley Pan. I come from Shaoxing. I graduated from the ZhengJiang Normal University in June, 2011. I am open-minded, quick in thought and very fond of history. I have broad interests like many other young people. I like reading, especially magazines. Frequently I exchange with other people by making comments in online forums. I am able to operate the computer well. I am skillful in searching for information in Internet. I always believe that one will easily lag behind unless he keeps on learning. In November 2011, I saw the news about OrderWithMe. In my opinion, OrderWithMe will have a great future. So I decided to join this youthful team. I have worked here for 4 months as a sourcer’s assistant. My job is looking for factories who can offer products for us. I love my job, and of course I love the team.

Ni How Are You?

Hey everyone! I am Coral Xu, a Chinese girl working in Orderwithme. It has been very lucky for me to know Orderwithme and become a member of it. I remember it was one shiny day early in 2009, I met Jonathan and Danielle in a nearby university. They just looked so energetic, and from what I see, they are energetic all the time. Such a huge cluster of enthusiasm would easily draw anyone in, including me. I began to have internship in their company, and now I get a chance to work for this enthusiasm as well as big potential.
My current position is office assistant. I like this job. Sometimes I help people buy stuff, sometimes I help translate a needed document. I know I am a new worker (I will graduate from college in June), so I gotta learn a lot of knowledge in career. And there is no better position than this can offer me a basic touch of everything. Thank Orderwithme for giving me this chance!

Well, you may still not know me well unless I tell you more about myself. I am English major. I have been in US in 2011 for 8 months as an exchange student, and now, I am married to an American! Yay~ There must be some connection between me and America very early. :) Anyway I hope ya’ll have a good time reading our blogs. I really hope you can find what you want in our website!

A Jack of All Trades

Hi, I’m Heather! I’m the General Manger of Orderwithme.com. So, how did I end up here? That’s a long story I’ll save for another day and give you the short shortened version for now. I came to China in 2001 and fell in love with the people and the culture and now it’s 2012 and I’m still here! I’ve worked in a myriad of industries while living in China. I would describe myself as a “jack of all trades.” I guess that’s why I’m the “general” manager, I suppose. I love working in a multi-cultural environment and I enjoy learning new things every day.

I met Jonathan in 2006 and my life hasn’t been the same since. I love working here because we truly are like a family. We work together, play together, and support each other when needed. Sometimes those make for tricky dynamics, but I really believe that the thing that’s special about our company is the love we have for each other. That’s something that money can’t buy!

I was one of the first team members of Orderwithme.com and I’m amazed how far we’ve come. There has been a lot of blood, sweat, and tears (literally) go into building this company and it’s cool to see where we are now. We certainly have a long road ahead of us, but I’m thankful for our awesome investors who believe in us and have the vision to see where we can go! We truly have the coolest investors in the world (and I’m not just saying that because they give us money ☺.) They are smart people who are also people you want to hang out with. We are so blessed!

The Granddaughter of an Italian fisherman

Summer is my name and I live in Texas.
Austin is my scene (because I kick it with the cool kids).

University was my thing, until they set me free,
I now bleed orange and walk proud with my degree!

II get down with the books and painting empty canvases!

When OrderWithMe came to be I was down to get to work,
I started learning Excel and began traveling back and forth!

Atlanta Home and Gift was the show that changed it all,
I met strangers who quickly became my friends (I would call).

So this is my story as it stands
How I became OWM Marketing Assistant.

The Accumulation of Seemingly Random Work Experiences in Action

Energy drinks, 12 hour days, and staring at computer screens. This is basically how I came to work at OrderWithMe. Hi, my name is Mitch.

About 5 years ago I helped a friend open a retail jewelry store. No one really knew what to do with the POS system, so it ended up in my lap. But you know what? I didn’t mind the tedious, mind numbing and most often frustrating work. I figured it out…assigned SKUs, created barcodes, and organized the inventory. Lets just say I was behind the checkout counter for 12 hours everyday for a full week. You could have built a tower with all the empty energy drink cans. Sadly, the energy drinks here in China are simply not the same… but then again, I don’t drink them, so it ends up being better for my health. So when my friend Jonathan called me over to China to work for his new company 5 years later, I came.

Startups are always fun, challenging, and interesting. Before coming back to China, I was in the beverage industry doing sales. Lets just say I didn’t mind putting in my 2 weeks notice once Jonathan told me he wanted me to come on over. Not that I hated my last job, I mean I learned a lot doing sales and apparently did a decent job (#’s don’t lie :P ), but I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity.

It didn’t hurt that I had to see about a girl back here in China.
